Time line of progress for the new Falmouth Skate Park
Beginning to NOW
- September and October 2007-collected names and contacts of people interested in a new/improved park at a skate jam sponsored by Jake Rogers. Robby Fogarty sold soda to raise money for park.
- October 11, 2007-First meeting. Discussed many topics, focus on fundraising and location.
- November 1, 2007-2nd meeting. More discussion on fundraising, finding Community Preservation Act, and Mass. Self-Help Grants as possibilities. Talked of the dangerous conditions of current park.
- November 15, 2007-3rd meeting, park plan created by Michon was presented. Falmouth Enterprise reporter at meeting.
- November 16, 2007-Falmouth Enterprise reported some information that was thought of as very negative by the Recreational Department.
- December 12, 2007- Members went before the Recreation Committee to ask for their support and ideas. The main message from them was for us to get organized.
- January 24, 2008-4th meeting, we got organized, Keith Bleiler was named Chairman, Mike Gully and Jeff Blumberg were named planning organizers, and Karen Fleer named secretary/treasurer.
- February 28, 2008-5th more discussion on fundraising, location, plans and grants.
- March 20, 2008-6th meeting, it was decided to use private funds to get some t-shirts and decks under way promoting a new skate park.
- March and April 2008-Several donation cans were distributed at local businesses,an account was opened at Rockland Trust for the Falmouth Skateboard Association
- Teri Michon created a website www.falmouthskatepark.org, set back on t’s and decks due to merchandise not being delivered as promised.
- April 30, 2008-7th meeting, discussed new t-shirt design, extension of existing park, and incorporation of a picnic pavilion for community. Also, will move forward on applying for Community Preservation Act.
- May 3, 3008-Park cleanup. Several members cleaned park and surrounding woods.
- May 3, 2008-Terrible news, True Ride was robbed again.
